City of Men director and O2 Filmes co-founder Paulo Morelli directed the series with his son Pedro, whose directing credits include hit series Criminal Code. The series features Lucas Agrícola as Pelé, while Rodrigo Santoro and Bruno Mazzeo portray coaches João Saldanha and Zagallo. In the 1970s the cameras were further away from the action than today and the pictures less clear, so O2 Filmes decided to offer a players’ eye view of the action on the pitch.
