Bye-bye, Gemini CLI; Google's gone and swapped you for a closed-source AI
Google has announced the discontinuation of the Gemini Command Line Interface (CLI) in favor of the new Antigravity CLI, effective June 18, 2026. This transition has sparked dissatisfaction among developers due to the closed-source nature of the new tool compared to its predecessor. While enterprises will retain access to Gemini CLI, most users will be forced to switch to Antigravity CLI, which may not offer the same features immediately.
