Confronted with the spectacular decor, she could only exclaim: "Well! Clearly, the budget wasn't an issue!" Five vast rooms with soaring ceilings were completely lined with fresh flowers. Visibly anxious, as seen in the documentary Dior and I (2014) by Frédéric Tcheng, Simons himself was stunned by the grandeur of the staging he had requested. "It's more than Alice in Wonderland," he marveled, between a cigarette and a sob.
