More Details on Shooting Outside White House, Including Alleged Shooter ID By Nick Arama | 10:01 PM on May 23, 2026 The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com. AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite, File As we reported, shots were fired outside the White House earlier, at 17th and Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, D.C. The sounds of the shots were captured by ABC's senior White House correspondent Selina Wang, who was doing a standup report on the north lawn. The press was then herded into the Briefing Room for safety, and the White House went on lockdown for about half an hour.
